Lawrence Jones (U.S) comes from Philadelphia and graduated from
Berklee College of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. He has played
with some of the major jazz musicians of the last century, such as South African pianist Abdullah Ibrahim and saxophonist
Grover Washington Jr.
He has lived and worked in Brighton for 12 years whilst also maintaining
his international work. Lawrence works as a music teacher in both sax and flute, providing inspiration for
young and adult musicians. The Brighton Jazz All Stars were formed 5 years ago and have maintained a residency at
The Lion and Lobster,
owned by famous actor Gary Whelan. The All Stars regularly perform in festivals and events throughtout the UK.
Dan Sheppard (U.K) has been playing double bass professionally since the age of 17
when he graduated from the Chichester College of Arts.
In the last 10 years he has played in more than 30 countries, numerous jazz clubs and festivals in Britain and has appeared on 15 cds as a side man.
Highlights include gigs with Bobby Wellins, Bobby Durham and John Etheridge.
Dominic O'Meeghan (N.Z) attended the conservatorium of music in Wellington.
While there he played with an array of top N.Z jazz musicians, namely pianist Johnathan Crayford. In 2001, in order to get
overseas, he played on cruise ships all over the world, finally coming to Brighton in 2003. He has been playing with BJAS ever since and has also appeared with singer Joe Lee Wilson.
